well, let's start with a little story. I promise you'll find it very much on topic.
(Excuse my not-so-perfect English)

When I was about 18, back in 1985, I was swimming with some of my friends
at the local lake near my home village, "Kinneret",
or as most people know it from the bible as "Sea of Galilee" in Israel.
One of our water "sports" was throwing mud at each other, by diving to the bottom of the lake,
gathering a fist full of sticky mud, surfacing and throwing at the "enemy".
And everybody was getting their fair share of it...

Suddenly one of the guys shouted "I found something" holding something that looks like a rock.
When we got closer to him we all saw that it was a metal piece covered with mud and seaweed.
My friend started to clean and peel the mud and weed until we all saw
a 6309-7040 in his palm. Back then, I only knew it was a Seiko diver.
This may sounds like a fairy tale, but after a few shakes it started running!

Ow, what a heart ache it was, not finding it myself...
That day was the day I fell in love with Seiko divers.
I had only a 7009 Seiko 5 "sports" back then.
Because I was already known as a watch crazy, my friend gave it to me
and asked me to check it.

A week later, after cleaning and baby sitting this great watch,
I took it to the Seiko central service center in Tel Aviv, A 3 hour bus ride,
and they only had to replace hands, crown and gaskets. before I returned it to my friend,
I wore it for a whole month. lucky I kept the old parts until this day,
or otherwise I wouldn't believe this story myself.

the sad day that I returned it to my friend I swore I will buy that model the minute
I'll get my first paycheck. It took me 3 years.
and when I went to buy it, I finally was persuaded to buy a H558 "Arnie"...
I don't regret it, but years later, when I got my 6309-7040, I knew it's a keeper.

All this was just an introduction to what I feel now.
I feel lately, after modding and chopping Seikos for some time now,
That the Seiko's I realy love are those that are exactly as they left the factory.
Pure Seiko design. I still love my moddified Seiko's, but as watches, not as Seikos.

I think I'm becoming a PURIST, but only time will tell.
